2.01.050 Council Districts.
(1) The seven (7) members of the Municipal Council shall be elected to represent the Council districts set forth below. Changes or amendments to Council district boundaries made by ordinance do not affect the standing, constituency, or term of office of those duly elected Council members serving at the time of the change or amendment and a mid-term vacancy is not created solely through the effect of such a change or amendment.
(a) Council District 1. One (1) Council member shall be elected to represent Council District 1 which includes the following voting precincts in Provo City, or the successor(s) thereof: 301, 302, 304, 305, 306, 307, 308, 310, 311, 312, 313, 314, and 319. The representative of this district shall, when filing as a candidate for office and at the time of election and while in office, be a resident of Council District 1.
(b) Council District 2. One (1) Council member shall be elected to represent Council District 2 which includes the following voting precincts in Provo City, or the successor(s) thereof: 315, 316, 318, 338, 340, 341, 342, 358, 359, 360, 362, 363, and 364. The representative of this district shall, when filing as a candidate for office and at the time of election and while in office, be a resident of Council District 2.
(c) Council District 3. One (1) Council member shall be elected to represent Council District 3 which includes the following voting precincts in Provo City, or the successor(s) thereof: 326, 327, 328, 348, 349, 350, 352, 353, 365, 366 and 367. The representative of this district shall, when filing as a candidate for office and at the time of election and while in office, be a resident of Council District 3.
(d) Council District 4. One (1) Council member shall be elected to represent Council District 4 which includes the following voting precincts in Provo City, or the successor(s) thereof: 320, 321, 322, 324, 325, 329, 330, 331, 332, 345, and 346. The representative of this district shall, when filing as a candidate for office and at the time of election and while in office, be a resident of Council District 4.
(e) Council District 5. One (1) Council member shall be elected to represent Council District 5 which includes the following voting precincts in Provo City, or the successor(s) thereof: 333, 334, 335, 336, 339, 343, 344, 354, 355, and 356. The representative of this district shall, when filing as a candidate for office and at the time of election and while in office, be a resident of Council District 5.
(f) Citywide District I. One (1) Council member shall be elected to represent Citywide District I which includes all of the voting precincts in Provo City. The representative of this district shall, when filing as a candidate for office and at the time of election and while in office, be a resident of Provo City.
(g) Citywide District II. One (1) Council member shall be elected to represent Citywide District II which includes all of the voting precincts in Provo City. The representative of this district shall, when filing as a candidate for office and at the time of election and while in office, be a resident of Provo City.
(2) The districts described in Subsection (1) of this Section shall govern any election or mid-term vacancy occurring after December 31, 2022.
