It shall be unlawful for any person in charge of a motor vehicle to permit it to stand unattended without first stopping the engine, locking the ignition, and removing the key, and if the vehicle is standing upon any perceptible grade it shall not be left without effectively setting the brakes thereon and turning the front wheels to the curb or side of the street.
